10 Years of Therapeutic Riding Championships Celebrated at Pennsylvania National Horse Show

Harrisburg, Pa. — October 20, 2025 — The LifeVac Therapeutic Riding Championships celebrated 10 years at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show on Friday, October 17, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa.

The LifeVac Therapeutic Riding Championships are designed to promote the efforts of the Pennsylvania National Horse Show Foundation, which earlier this year donated nearly $100,000 to therapeutic riding programs and horse rescues. The PNHS Foundation strives to bring attention to the important work of therapeutic riding organizations and to provide them with the support they need to continue to provide their crucial services.

Held as two separate classes, the 2025 championships were judged by Rebecca Kinsley, an avid rider and a longtime PNHS Foundation board member who was instrumental in the establishment of the Therapeutic Riding Championships in 2016. In the first class of the day, riders were required to walk. In the second class, riders were asked to both walk and trot.

In the walk-only class, the results were as follows:

1st | Piper Harmon
2nd | Lucy Laws
3rd | Evelyn Orleski
4th | Sara Kane
5th | Brendan Budd

In the walk/trot class, the results were as follows:

1st | Angeli Ronco
2nd | Nora Mae Grubb
3rd | Emily Estilow
4th | Michaela Funk
5th | Alana McAfee
6th | Emily Smith

In between the two classes, the horse show paused to recognize an often-unsung hero, the Therapy Horse of the Year. The title was awarded to Harley for 2025, an underdog horse from Right Foot Ranch who was originally rescued from the kill pen. Now, he has gone above and beyond to earn his title as the 2025 Therapy Horse of the Year. Read more about Harley’s story here.
