Adam Sklansky Speeds to First PA National Horse Show Victory in $30,000 Commonwealth Classic
Harrisburg, Pa. – October 18, 2025 – Adam Sklansky of Birmingham, AL, has been coming to the Pennsylvania National Horse Show since he was a kid competing on ponies. However, Sklansky, 30, has never quite gotten his big Harrisburg, Pa. win – until now. On Friday, October 17, Sklansky and Zibaloubet Z sped to victory in the $30,000 1.30m Commonwealth Classic.
Sklansky and the grey Zangersheide gelding, owned by Kate Laborde, were one of 13 entries to jump off over the Oscar Soberon-designed short course, and the pair laid down the winning time of 35.41 seconds.

That time narrowly edged out the week’s winningest 1.30m rider, Laura Chapot. She and her own Tyson Fury finished Friday night’s class in 36.25 seconds to take home second place. Chapot also finished in third place with a time of 36.68 seconds aboard Calafornia, owned by Mary Chapot.
“I’ve never won anything here. I’ve had a lot of chips here!” joked Sklansky. “I finally won something, and it means a lot. It’s big show, so it’s fun to be here.”

Sklansky continued, “Laura’s horse is very fast, so I had to really go for it. [Zibaloubet Z]’s got a big step. He’s naturally fast, and he turns tight. We just got him recently, so we’re kind of testing out the buttons, and I figured it out today.”
While the Friday night win fulfills a big goal for Sklansky, the ultimate goal for Zibaloubet Z is to see success with owner Laborde.

“Zibaloubet Z is a very easygoing horse,” said Sklansky. “[He is Laborde’s] next step up to the 1.40m and hopefully the grand prix, and he’s just very chill in the barn. He knows his job, and he wants to win. We just have to figure out how to do it!”
Following the conclusion of Friday night’s competition, Chapot was honored with a number of awards recognizing her excellence in the 1.30m division throughout the week at the 79th annual Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

She and Tyson Fury were first presented as the 1.30m Jumper division champions, and Chapot was named the 1.30m Leading Lady Jumper Rider, sponsored by the Kosloske Family. As the 1.30m Leading Jumper Rider, Chapot was also recognized with the Thomas Boyle Memorial Challenge Trophy, donated in 2014 by Patrick and Nicole Boyle.
