Ana Ramos Wins $12,500 NAL Children’s Jumper Final Presented by EquiFit at the 2019 Pennsylvania National Horse Show
Harrisburg, PA – October 19, 2019 – Ana Ramos of Ocala, FL rode Jorno to the win in the $12,500 North American League (NAL) Children’s Jumper Final Presented by EquiFit on Saturday at the 2019 Pennsylvania National Horse Show (PNHS).
After 13 of 29 entries qualified for the jump-off by riding without penalty over the 15-effort, 1.15m first-round course designed by Michel Vaillancourt, they returned for the 8-effort abbreviated course. Midway through the jump-off, Claire Campbell of Cochranville, PA took the lead with a clean ride in 36.140 seconds on Abilitydance.
Campbell’s lead held until the second-to-last ride when Ramos returned on her 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood. They blazed over the course and finished clean in 35.510 seconds for what wound up as the winning time.
“I was really nervous since this is my first indoor show,” said Ramos, who turns 17 next week.
“Jorno has been sick and I didn’t know how he would be, but he felt awesome. He was exactly where I wanted him to be. The jumps came up nicely and he was perfect as usual.
“In the jump-off, we walked the first line as a five, but that was really far out there, so we decided to do six to make quick turns because he turns really fast and he’s just naturally fast,” added Ramos, who trains with Megan Wexler. “His scope and natural ability helped. He was there for me and I was there for him. I’m really happy with how it all went.”
Campbell finished second, and third went to Lindsay Sheldon of Marietta, GA with a clean jump-off ride in 37.490 seconds on Livius Van’t Bijlebos.
