Clara Propp Clinches Gold Medal in Turnham Green/USEF Junior Jumper National Championship

Harrisburg, Pa. — October 12, 2025 — For Clara Propp, one of her biggest takeaways from this year’s Turnham Green/USEF Junior Jumper National Championships is that anything can happen in competition – including moving from fifth place to the top of the podium as she did on Saturday, October 11 at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

Saturday night marked the third and final day of junior jumper competition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa., which culminated in the crowning of Propp and Mistral van de Vogelzang as the new national champions.

Heading into the night, Propp sat on a cumulative score of 4.8, while just fractions of a point separated the top three, including Avery Griffin on a score of 0.87, Gabriella Curry with a score of 0.88 and JJ Torano with a score of 0.95.

Riders returned to the Harrisburg Coliseum in reverse order of their standings to contest a challenging track set by Oscar Soberon, and a clear round from Propp and Mistral van de Vogelzang cranked up the pressure for the four riders that followed her. As a least one rail fell for each of them, Propp’s name continued to move up the leaderboard until it was determined that the gold medal was hers with her final score remaining a 4.8.

With one rail down in the final phase, the silver medal went to Griffin and Oh My Star Van Strytem on incredibly close score of 4.87, and Torano and Lyon 50 took home the bronze on a 4.95 score.

“My horse is absolutely incredible,” said Propp of her 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, owned by Aquitaine Equine. “I’m really happy that it all came together tonight. I feel like I’ve been working on my partnership with him for almost a year now, and tonight really solidified that. Coming into tonight, I was going in fifth, so I knew I kind of didn’t really have anything to lose. I just wanted to put down a solid, clear round and hope for the best.

“Everything moves around, and, you know, one rail can change a lot or not change anything at all,” continued Propp, who previously earned the silver medal in the 2024 Turnham Green/USEF Junior Jumper National Championships. “Anything can happen, just keep pushing. Don’t give up and don’t get discouraged if something doesn’t go your way.”

Following the conclusion of the class, Torano was also presented with the William C. Steinkraus Style of Riding Award Perpetual Trophy, donated by Karen Healey. The award recognizes the junior jumper rider who is deemed by the judges to best exemplify the American style of equitation and the respectful, dignified, courteous and workmanlike manner of a true sportsman.
