Frosted and Rindy Dominguez Keep Their Cool for Winning Amateur Owner Hunter Debut at Pennsylvania National
Harrisburg, Pa. – October 16, 2025 – It has been about 15 years since Rindy Dominguez last competed at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, but she made her return a triumphant one when she piloted her own Frosted to the 3’3″ Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and Over championship to win the Mae West Perpetual Trophy on Thursday, October 16.
Dominguez and Frosted were also named the Grand 3’3″ Amateur Owner Hunter Champions and received the Art Dunphy Perpetual Trophy. Lindsay Mutschler and Fiscal were reserve in the 3’3″ Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and Over division, sponsored by Sandra and Robert Bierman.
“It’s always a journey with every horse to get from the start to the finish, and when you start to see all of that coming together and seeing some consistency and all of that, it’s just amazing,” Dominguez said. “It’s a great feeling for all the hard work that the trainers, grooms, everybody puts into it. It’s lovely when it all comes together.”
Dominguez purchased “Frosty” in 2023, and she has been bringing the stallion along in the hunters alongside her trainer Jennifer Hannan. She and Frosty started in the adult amateur hunters and moved up to the 3’3″ amateur owners this year. She hopes to move him up to 3’6″ next year.
“In the barn he is just Mr. Chill,” she said. “He’s very quiet. He comes out every day exactly the same.”
When she’s not riding, Dominguez keeps busy with three kids, one in college and two in high school, but since the amateur owner divisions took place during the week while they were in class, she was able to focus on her riding.
“It’s all a balance,” she said. “You just close your eyes and keep going forward and plan.”
Mission Accomplished for Taylor Shearin Heller and Lemieux in Amateur Owner Hunter
After five years together, Taylor Shearin Heller and Lemieux know each other quite well, and on Thursday at the Pennsylvania National they put all the pieces together to take the 3’3″ Amateur Owner Hunter 18-35 championship ahead of Elle Gibbs and Soirée.
“I honestly can’t even believe it,” she said. “My horse is so special, and I just feel so happy that I was able to give him the ride that he deserves. We’ve been here [three times], this is our second time in the amateurs, and he always steps up to the plate. To feel like we finally did it together at the same time is always so hard to achieve. It just feels really good to be back here again and to get to enjoy this.”
With two wins over fences and a sixth in the final class on Thursday, Shearin Heller and “Dutton,” who is owned by her mom Mary Shearin, were awarded the PNHS Amateur Owner 3’3″ Perpetual Trophy.
Shearin Heller keeps Dutton at a small farm at home, and she meets her longtime trainer Chris Wynne at shows. It is not a program that works well for every horse, she said, but for Dutton it is a good fit.
“He has the most personality of any horse I’ve ever had in my life,” she said. “He is very bossy. He’s very demanding, but he knows that he’s good at what he does, so when he goes in the show ring he knows that he is showing. He knows he’s being watched. He prances in. At home he’s horrible to ride; he’s so lazy, and then he trots in the horse show ring and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t even need my spurs anymore because he’s very proud. He’s a very proud horse.”
