It’s a Wrap for the 2015 PA National Horse Show

It’s a Wrap!

From a Zone 2 win in the Junior Jumper Championships, to one of the largest Medal classes ever, to a large and enthusiastic crowd cheering Leslie Howard’s win in the Prix de Penn National, the 70th Pennsylvania National Horse Show is one for the books.

The 2015 Pennsylvania National Horse Show started Junior Weekend with the newly added 3’3” Junior Hunter Division and crowned Alex Trolli and “Hey Sailor” as its first champion. The Junior Jumpers made for interesting evening performances with the team from Zone 2 capturing team gold in the Neue Schule/ USEF Junior Jumper Prix de States Team Championship and Individual Championship Phase II at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show on Friday evening with only a four fault team score.

Sunday of Junior Weekend saw a class of 280 riders tackle the Pessoa/US Hunter Seat Equitation Medal Final.

Kelli Cruciotti of Elizabeth, CO, prevailed over the competition – the third largest in the history of the Medal Finals.  Hunter Holloway, 16 of Topeka, KS, was named the Reserve Champion and Mckayla Langmeier, 15 of East Granby, CT, was third.

Monday October 12 started “Adult Week” and the beginning of the professional hunter divisions, ladies sidesaddle, one of the largest Hunt Nights ever, with 13 teams competing, the Equine Comeback Challenge, Amateur Owner Hunters and the Open and Amateur Owner Jumper divisions.

The 70th Horse Show culminated with a win in the Prix de Penn National Grand Prix by reputed jumper rider Leslie Howard aboard Gentille Van Spieveld.  Having ridden her first Prix de Penn Grand Prix in 1979, this win was especially sweet for Howard.  The evening and show concluded with the large crowd being invited onto the course for a course walk, selfie pose and birthday cupcakes. What a success!

Looking forward to the 2016 Pennsylvania National Horse Show, October 13 – 22 at the Farm Show Arena in Harrisburg, PA and launching the next decade of showing at one of the country’s largest indoor shows.  To learn more about this year’s show or to follow the plans for next year’s show, visit www.PAnational.org.
