ABOUT: The Pennsylvania National Horse Show has been one of the largest and most prestigious horse shows in the U.S. for 78 years. 

Riders must qualify to compete at the 11-day event, so the opportunity to show at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show is considered a great honor, and the show attracts the nation’s top horses and riders, including many from throughout central Pennsylvania.

Proceeds from the PNHS benefit the PNHS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides grants to therapeutic riding and equine rescue programs.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS: This year’s show will offer free admission for spectators for the majority of the 11-day event and will feature top equestrian sport, a family fun day, vendors and more. 

JUNIOR WEEKEND

The opening week of competition, running Thursday, October 10 through Sunday, October 13, will shine a spotlight on junior competitors as the best young riders in the country flock to Harrisburg for featured events including the:

• Turnham Green/US Equestrian Federation Prix des States Team Championship and the Turnham Green/USEF Junior Jumper National Championship – Thursday, October 10 through Saturday, October 12
• Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal Finals – Sunday, October 13 

In addition to the in-ring events, the weekend will feature the PNHS Family Fun Day from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 12. Admission and parking are entirely free, with the afternoon’s activities including face painting, behind-the-scenes tours, a caricature artist, baby goat snuggling, hands-on horse activities with Reins of Rhythm, wagon rides and more!

CHAMPIONS WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

The professional jumpers head into the Harrisburg Coliseum beginning on Wednesday, October 16.

Each evening, Wednesday through Saturday, will feature some of the country’s biggest names in show jumping sport.

Highlight evening events include:

Team Night at the $30,000 Commonwealth Classic – On Friday evening, October 18, barn mates, riding clubs, soccer teams, Girl Scout troops and groups of all kind are invited to vie for prizes while enjoying the fast-paced show jumping competition of the $30,000 Commonwealth Classic! Tickets are required for the evening session but start at just $6 per person for groups of 10 or more. $100,000 Grand Prix de Penn National – On Saturday, October 18, the finale of the show’s professional show jumping events, the $100,000 Grand Prix de Penn National features the highest jumps and some of the most exhilarating competition of the week! The Saturday evening session will also feature performances from renowned equestrian entertainer Guy McLean. Tickets are available at panational.org/tickets.
